PRIME LIS Policies

Laboratory Information System (LIS) is a safe and easy way to access all the records owned by the laboratory. It ensures safekeeping, unlimited laidback accessibility towards old and new files.

Policies for the Use of LIS

Only authorized personnel are allowed to have access to the information system:
  • i. Pathologist
  • ii. Chief Medical Technologist
  • iii. Staff Medical Technologist
Each authorized personnel shall be given a username and password which will record their time, access and workload of usage in the database.
  • No other person or company shall be given access to the database to secure confidentiality of information.
  • Overwriting of results is blocked.
  • Editing of results can only be allowed within 2 hours after entry. Changes in results shall be written and signed off by the Chief Medical Technologist or Pathologist.
  • Access to old accounts can be done for delta checking only. Reprinting of results shall be permitted by the authority of the Chief Medical Technologist / Pathologist.
  • Deleting laboratory entry shall be permitted by the authority of the Chief Medical Technologist / Pathologist. An override code will be given to the Pathologist and CMT.
  • Any changes in the technical nature (such as addition of parameters, changes in normal values of tests, formatting, logo, etc.) of the database shall be done only by the chief medical technologist.
  • Retention of data in the database shall be not less than 5 years.
